It was more than 40 years ago that Santana burst on to the national rock scene with an incendiary performance at Woodstock – and yet his music remains as spellbinding and timeless as ever. That’s no easy hat trick, even for the typically fedora-clad Carlos Santana.
He and his group have sold more than 100 million records, earned a jaw-dropping 10 Grammys and, along with the Rolling Stones, are one of only two music acts in Billboard chart history to score at least one Top Ten album in each decade from the 1960s to the present.
But, hey, don’t take our word for the timelessness of the music. Carlos Santana and the Santana band -- the group that gave us Latin-tinged hits such as “Black Magic Woman,” “Oy Como Va,” “Evil Ways” and “Smooth," to name but a few -- make their way to WinStar World Casino for a performance Friday, Sept. 9. Opening will be Michael Franti and Spearhead.
