Renaissance Man, Dwight Yoakam

Dwight YoakamWhat can Dwight Yoakam not do? One of the most extraordinary artists in country music … Exceptional actor … gifted movie director.

Surely, there are a few things at which he doesn’t excel. Anyone know his golf handicap or whether he can juggle knives?

The musical portion of his sizable gifts will be evident Saturday evening when he takes the stage of the Global Event Center at WinStar World Casino.

“I am very much looking forward to performing at WinStar World Casino,” Yoakam recently told us. “I've never had to explain my music to the people of Oklahoma and Texas. They are always terrific audiences, and I am excited about the show."

Put us in the “excited” column, too, Calling Yoakam one of the true pioneers in country and western doesn’t begin to do justice to a musician whose musical vocabulary is big enough to stretch from infectious honky tonk to bravura covers of the likes of Queen and The Clash.

Here's a suggestion to get you started:1.) Don't take a shower, do your hair or get ready anymore. I promise, you'll start looking more like me every day with just this one tip. :)P.S. Christina: Thanks for inviting us to the Rodeo with you. We loved it. Drew was mad that we went without him. I'll let you take that one up with him okay.
